The Old Fairgrounds Neighborhood Association represents the diverse and vibrant Old Fairgounds neighborhood in downtown Allentown, Pennsylvania. This area (roughly from Gordon to Tilghman Street and from just east of Fifth Street to just east of Seventh Street) includes the former site of the the Great Allentown Fair, which moved to its present-day West End location in 1889. The neighborhood is one of Allentown's three protected historic districts.
OFNA is an active group, with general meetings on the third Monday of every other month, at 7pm in Dubbs Memorial Church at 5th and Allen Streets. We often host a guest speaker at these events, and residents have a chance to propose new initiatives. Click here for information on our next meeting.
As an organization, we have a sense of pride about our neighborhood and are working to make it even better. Homes kept in good repair, clean sidewalks and alleys, nicely kept yards, trees and clean tree wells, well-maintained terraces with shrubbery, flower boxes, lighted candles in windows--all add to the charm of our neighborhood as expressed in its noteworthy architecture. In recognition of this architecture, our area's importance to the City, and our neighborhood preservation efforts, the Old Fairgrounds area was designated Allentown's second Historic District in 1981.
